What To Expect At Your First Visit

Dr. Molly Mulcahy caring for a patient's shoulder and upper body at More Life Chiropractic in Dunedin FL

Relax, We Have Done This A Few Thousand Times

A first visit anywhere new can feel intimidating when you do not know what happens on the other side of the door. That is easy to fix. Nothing at More Life Chiropractic happens without your understanding and your permission, and a new patient appointment typically takes about an hour from the time you walk in.

Here is the full visit, step by step, so that by the time you arrive at 424 Skinner Blvd there is nothing left to wonder about.

Step 1: Intake Paperwork

Every new patient starts with a short intake packet covering your history, your symptoms, and your goals. You can handle it two ways: grab the packet ahead of time from our intake forms page and arrive with it finished, or come a few minutes early and knock it out in the lobby. Either way it takes about ten minutes, and it gives your doctor a head start on understanding you.

Step 2: A Conversation with Your Doctor

Next you will sit down with Dr. Caleb, Dr. Shelby, or Dr. Molly for an unhurried talk about what brought you in. Where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and what you want your body to be able to do again. Whether the trouble is stubborn back pain or a neck that has been complaining since spring, this conversation points the rest of the visit in the right direction.

Step 3:The Examination

Then your doctor gets specific: posture assessment, range of motion testing, palpation of the spine and surrounding muscle, and orthopedic and neurological checks where your case calls for them. Everything is explained before it happens and nothing proceeds without your OK. The goal is to find the actual source of the problem, which is frequently a different spot than where you feel it.

Step 4: Imaging, Only If You Need It

If your examination raises a structural question, we can answer it on the spot with digital X ray right in our office, with no separate imaging appointment needed. And if your case does not call for films, you will not get them. We image when findings justify it, never by routine.

Step 5: Your Results, Explained

Once your doctor has the full picture, you get it too: what is going on, why it is happening, what we recommend, roughly how long recovery should take, and what it will cost, with our payment options covered before care begins rather than after. You will leave this conversation with a clear understanding of your own spine, and if you want to go deeper later, our spine education page is built for exactly that.

Step 6: Your First Treatment

Most new patients receive care the same day when findings support it. Depending on your case that may mean a precise manual adjustment, gentle instrument adjusting with the Activator Method, targeted soft tissue work, or spinal decompression for qualifying disc cases. Whatever the method, you will know what is happening and why before it happens, the standard we hold all our chiropractic care to.

Step 7: Your roadmap to more life

Before you leave, you and your doctor map the next steps: how many visits to expect, what to do at home between them, and how progress will be measured. As symptoms resolve, many patients transition into periodic wellness care to protect the progress they worked for. The plan is always yours to decide.
